Shawn Donovan

Shawn graduated from the NC State School of Design in 2000 with a degree in Architecture. Coupling his education in design with his hands-on experience growing up in a family-owned construction business, Shawn found success working as a Project Manager with Toll Brothers Inc., where he developed three neighborhoods with over three hundred homes.

Among the youngest Project Managers at Toll Brothers, Shawn earned several company awards including Community of the Year and Project Manager of the Year. As the market calmed in residential construction, Shawn moved into the position of Director of Construction at a commercial design-build firm, where he developed a strong base of experience in planning and constructing commercial buildings and spaces.

Shawn found the typical Design-Bid-Build process to have too many competing interests in the direction of a project. Clients are not able to realize the final designs or costs of their project until after construction begins. He gained familiarity with commercial estimating and the use of Building Information Modeling practice, which integrates construction knowledge of costs early into the design process.
